When we actually meet someone who
seems to be a potential lover or mate, we may see them surrounded by fantasy.
They glow for us, though they do not for their friends. The lover becomes
a double star - one radiant branches out from their real presence, while
another shines from an unknown source, intensifying the total effect.
Thomas Moore What is the attraction that brings two persons together? It might be lust, it might be a recognition of a deep soul connection. Probably it is a complex mixture that includes the projection of unmet needs from childhood onto the partner. If the relationship is to become sustainable, it will need to weather the necessary disillusionment of seeing through the projective hooks and engage the work of learning to harvest desire. This workshop will both identify essential differences in couple work
from individual work and give a guiding context for how to support couples
in bringing desire away from the ego and in service of soul. |
