"Soul and spirit… are now complex and unique states of an organism. The difficult job… is to move the spirit from its nowhere pedestal to a somewhere place, while preserving its dignity and importance" Antonio Damasio

Can we preserve the dignity of soul and spirit as our scientific understanding of mind and brain grows? Might science even refine our sense of these phenomena in therapy?

Both the brain and nervous system on one hand, and soul and spirit on the other, can suffer from apparent invisibility. The aim of this seminar is to show not only that the one need not conflict with the other, but also that biological revelation can be enlightening.

This one day seminar will include presentations and discussions on:-
the key things for therapists to understand about the brain (development, architecture, forestry, chemistry, how the brain works)
the biology behind consciousness, memory, perception, emotion & feeling, mindfulness, & the mind-body connection
revisioning mental health & psychopathology in the light of neurobiology
how the brain enables us to experience the transpersonal

Participants are invited to bring a clinical issue to examine in a neurobiological light.
